Isolated heavy rain forecast for the East and South
The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Friday (July 31) that the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea and Thailand will bring isolated heavy rain to the eastern and southern regions. People should beware of the severe conditions, the department cautioned.
The department also said the active low pressure cell in the South China Sea is intensifying and moving northwest to southern China. It should bring more rain to upper Thailand from August 1-4.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:
North: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees Celsius and highs of 32-36°C.
Northeast: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-26°C and highs of 33-36°C.
Central: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 35-36°C.
East: Cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 31-35°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
South (east coast): Cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 33-35°C; waves a metre high and two metres during thundershowers.
South (west coast): Cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 30-34°C; waves 1-2 metres high and two metres during thundershowers.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 34-36°C.
