Yangon airport extends international flight ban till Aug 31

YANGON-Government extends suspension on operation of international flights at the Yangon International Airport until August 31st aiming to prevent and control the COVID-19 virus.

According to the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Department of Civil Aviation, Myanmar has temporarily banned all incoming international flights since March 30th.

The National Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 announced a statement on July 28th saying that the government had banned operations of international commercial passenger flights until August 31st a bid to prevent further import of COVID-19 cases.

Although operation of international commercial passenger flights at the Terminal-1 in Yangon International Airport already has been suspended until August 31st, domestic flights regularly operate at the Terminal -3.

As all shops at the Terminal-1 in Yangon International Airport were closed during COVID-19 outbreak, the government made exemption on shops’ rental fees and eased the fees of rental shops. Moreover, authorities cut the salaries of airport staffs aiming for long-term survival from the COVID-19, says

Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited(YACL).

As international commercial passenger flights had been banned until June 30th, the number of flight users declined as double since the beginning of mid-February.
