Mother who crossed border for visa will finally be reunited with her newborn

Pattani governor Kraisorn Wisitwong is calling on his Songkhla counterpart, Jaruwat Kliangklao, to help bring back a Thai woman’s baby from Malaysia via the Sadao Customs House on Monday (August 3).

He said on Thursday (July 30) that the woman had left her newborn at a hospital in Malaysia to extend her Malaysian visa on March 17, but has not been able to return due to the pandemic.
The secretary of the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre said the hospital has been paid via the Foreign Ministry for the baby’s care, Kraisorn said, adding that it was difficult to bring the child back just yet because Malaysia has public holidays until August 3.
The baby will be picked up at the Sadao Customs House by officials from the Pattani Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office as well as officials from Pattani Hospital.
“The hospital has prepared a room for the infant so doctors can protect both mother and child from Covid-19,” the governor said.
