Russian tests positive for Covid-19 in state quarantine

There was only one new case of Covid-19 over a 24-hour period, the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported on Tuesday.

It was the 71st day without domestic cases since May.

A 33-year-old female Russian who had arrived on July 20 tested positive in Bangkok’s alternative state quarantine facility.

As of Tuesday, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 3,321 (384 in state quarantine) -- 121 are under treatment, 3,142 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 58 deaths.

Globally, the total number of confirmed cases increased to 18.4 million, up by 208,000 on Monday; 11.6 million people have recovered while deaths stood at 697,000. Thailand is now 111th among countries with most number of cases in the world; the US has the most number of cases (4.86 million), followed by Brazil (2.75 million) and India (1.85 million).
