Isolated heavy rains forecast for most of country

The Thailand Meteorological Department today (August 5) forecast isolated heavy rains in many areas of the North, the Northeast, the East and the South as a monsoon trough lies across the upper North, while the strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf.

It warned people in risky areas to beware of severe conditions and stay tuned for weather updates, adding that waves in the Andaman Sea could rise 2-3 metres, 2 metres in the Gulf and above 3 metres in areas with thundershowers. It advised all ships to proceed with caution and small boats to stay ashore.


Here’s the weather forecast for the next 24 hours:
North: Thundershowers in 70 per cent of the area and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-25 degrees Celsius and highs of 30-33°C.
Northeast: Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the area and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-26°C and highs of 30-34°C.
Central: Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 32-33°C.
East: Thundershowers in 70 per cent of the area and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-27°C, highs of 30-34°C; waves 2 metres high and over 2 metres during thundershowers.
South (east coast): Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the area and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 31-33°C; waves 1-2 metres high and over 2 metres during thundershowers.
South (west coast): Thundershowers in 70 per cent of the area and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 22-25°C, highs of 31-33°C; waves 2-3 metres high and over 3 metres during thundershowers.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the area and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 25-26°C, highs of 31-34°C.
