A pro-democracy protest scheduled for today (August 12) has been cancelled as the organisers are afraid that instigators might join in to stir up trouble.

After a political gathering on Monday, activists wanted to hold another rally to express their standpoint, but Thammasat and the Public Assembly Facebook page announced the rally has been cancelled.

The page said it was reported that there were some people who were planning to join the protest to “instigate” other protesters, which might lead to violence.

However, the organisers said that even though the rally will not take place, they intended to make a surprise announcement, (possibly indicating other activities would take place on online platforms).
