Villagers in Lampang get land title deeds

Land title deeds were handed out to local villagers in Lampang province who have been living or farming on their land but had no official documentation.

The ceremony on Monday (August 17) was presided over by Deputy Interior Minister Nipon Boonyamanee.
“The Ministry of Interior had ordered the Department of Land to survey the lands in rural areas using the RTK GNSS network [Real Time Kinematic Global Navigation Satellite System] and issue title deeds to villagers who have been living or farming on them,” he said. “Having official land title deeds will help improve the villagers’ economic stability as well as allow them to pass on to their children as heritage," Nipon said.

“We have advised villagers not to sell the lands unless they absolutely need to, as well as tasked staff from the Department of Land to provide legal advice in case villagers wish to make modifications to the land or transfer ownership to others,” he added.
On Monday, 120 villagers in Lampang received title deeds for 220 plots of land in Wiang Tan and Mae San subdistricts, with a combined area of over 290 rai (46.4 hectares).
“So far the Department of Land has issued title deeds for more than 2,400 plots of land in Lampang, and 120,000 plots of land nationwide,” added Nipon.
