Covid-19 tests on the corpse of an elderly Laotian man, whose death caused panic in Udon Thani’s Nong Han district, have come out negative.

Kompum Pimpadi, 61, had been sitting on a wooden bench in front of his house when he began vomiting blood, and died soon after on Tuesday (August 18). His sudden death terrified the locals, who believed he may have succumbed to a Covid-19 infection.

Officials from Nong Han Hospital, all wearing PPE gear, showed up to examine the corpse and collect samples for lab tests.

The samples tested negative for Covid-19, but found that the cause of death was tuberculosis.

The man and his wife had entered Thailand through the natural border to visit their daughter in Udon Thani.
