<p>Doi Inthanon National Park director Kritsiam Kongsatree said that the rains began on Saturday (August 22), strengthening water currents in Mae Ya Waterfall and Mae Klang Waterfall.</p>

<p>Residents who lived near the waterfalls were informed that the situation would get better within an hour as the rain has stopped but the officials will continue monitoring the situation.</p>

<p>Regarding a sinkhole spotted on Friday, he said that it was a result of erosion caused by the rain and the responsible agency was trying to fill the hole, but the wetness of the terrain was making it difficult.</p>

Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai province has warned visitors to stay away from waterfalls after flash floods caused by heavy rains intensified currents.
