Mae Hong Son completely closes borders with Myanmar amid Covid-19 fears

Mae Hong Son province has decided to close the Myanmar-Thailand border after the number of Covid-19 patients in the neighbouring country increased by 107, totalling 882 overall.

The local government is concerned that Burmese immigrants who illegally entered the country might spread Covid-19 in Thailand.
Mae Hong Son Governor Suwapong Kittipatpiboon said after a public health issue meeting that five borders in the province were already closed since July 20 but logistics movement was still being allowed.
However, the meeting decided to shut down all access and cancel all transportation services for 15 days with effect from September 3.
Patients in refugee camps are still able to be admitted to local hospitals, but they will have to be quarantined in the camps if they test positive for Covid-19 while only serious cases could stay in the hospitals.
