Unemployed teacher 'confesses' to robbing chain from gold shop

A suspect in a gold robbery case has reportedly confessed to Nakhon Chai Si police on Monday (August 31) about committing the crime, as he had lost his job as a teacher and was in need of money.

On Saturday (August 29), Manit Kaewduang, 29, committed the alleged robbery in Nakhon Pathom province, and was arrested later with evidence, such as his motorcycle and jacket.
The man reportedly told police that he had been a teacher in a private school in the province. However, his contract had expired and he was jobless.
Since he had no money, he decided to commit the crime. He went to a gold shop in Nakhon Pathom and asked a staff to see a gold necklace. He grabbed the necklace that was shown to him and left the shop.
The alleged robber informed police that he had sold that necklace to another gold shop located in a local Big C branch, and purchased a new necklace from the money he received.
On Sunday (August 30), the robber brought the new necklace to sell in another shop in Nakhon Pathom’s Sam Phran district, and was arrested later that day.
The ex-teacher regretted his alleged crime as he was known to several people in the province.
