BMA extends deadline for land and property tax, allows instalments

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has announced that land and property tax exceeding Bt3,000 can be paid in instalments and that the payment deadline has been extended from end August to October 31.

“This is the first year that residents will have to pay a land and property tax, which was announced on March 13, 2019, to replace the building and land tax and local maintenance tax,” deputy Bangkok governor Kriangyos Sudlapa said. “Owing to Covid-19, the government had decided to postpone the deadline for the payment of this tax to the end of August to ease people’s financial burden.
“However, BMA has realised that though the payment deadline is already up, several people are still suffering from the impact of the outbreak, while others are confused about the regulations of this new tax. Hence, we have decided to extend the deadline for the filing and payment of this tax until October 31,” he said.
“Those who have to pay more than Bt3,000 can apply for the option of paying via three instalments, from October to December.
“Notification of tax assessment has been sent to land and property owners in all 50 districts of Bangkok since July. If the assessment is incorrect, taxpayers can file an appeal at the district office where the property is located,” Kriangyos added.
The tax can be paid directly at the district office where the property is located, or via money order, cheque, bank transfer, QR code payment, ATM as well as online and mobile banking. Call BMA’s Revenue Division at (02) 224 3070 or (02) 226 6219 for more information.
