Health authorities urge 14-day self-quarantine with precautions by rally participants

The Ministry of Public Health is concerned about the health of those who took part in the weekend's political rallies, and have requested their cooperation to check their symptoms for 14 days.

Dr Sopon Iamsirithaworn, director of the Department of Disease Control, said the ministry was concerned about the health of the political demonstrators as they were short of rest, and some people did not sleep because of the humid and rainy weather. There is a chance of them getting sick with the flu or a respiratory disease. In addition, Thailand is still considered at risk for Covid-19, as some people may be infected but not show symptoms. The gathering of a large number of people can easily spread Covid-19 or the flu, both of which are similar.
He urged everyone who had attended the rally to monitor and observe themselves for 14 days, check their temperature regularly, use separate mask, food and personal items to prevent the infection spreading to family members, and avoid close contact with the elderly and people with medical conditions, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, since this group suffer severe symptoms if they get infected with even the risk of death. If symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, mucus or loss of taste and smell occur, they must visit the nearest hospital for diagnosis immediately.
