Despite struggle with COVID-19 pandemic, Investment more than previous year: Aung San Suu Kyi

Even though the country is struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic, the government is doing its best to its economy and investment in Myanmar is more than last year according to State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi in her televised speech to the public on September 25th evening.

“When we look at the statistics, although we are in the month of September, investment in Myanmar is more than previous year. What I would like to say is that even if we are facing and struggling with the pandemic, we are doing our best to maintain our economy so as not to be severely affected by the pandemic. As a result, our country’s economy is successful to some extent. Concerning the trade and commerce sector, it is nearly reaching the amount of last year’s trade and commerce data and we still have three more months to finish 2020, said State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi.

In regards to the surge in COVID-19, she stated that arrangements are being made depending on the situation of patients. Moreover, she added the public to be less worried and put their mind to be calm and not to worry too much about the country and its future. The fatality rate is a little higher from 1.4 to 1.6 but it is not increasing too much, she said. Worry more results in stress and increased vulnerability to immune changes, she added.
