Showers forecast for most parts of Thailand with isolated heavy rain in some areas
Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is possible in the lower Northeast, the East and the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity and the South while the wet spell continues across the country, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Friday.
A monsoon trough lies across the lower Central, the upper South and the East while the strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf. People in risky areas should beware of severe conditions, the department said. Strong winds are expected with waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf 2-4 metres high and more than four metres high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, the department said.
The category 1 active low pressure cell covers the upper South and is expected to move through the upper South into the Andaman Sea on Friday.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:
North: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 23-25 degrees Celsius, maximum 32-34°C.
Northeast: Cloudy with thundershowers in 70 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 22-23°C and maximum 26-30°C.
Central: Cloudy with thundershowers in 70 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 22-24°C, maximum 31-33°C.
East: Cloudy with thundershowers in 80 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 22-25°C, maximum 29-32°C; waves 2-4 metres high and over four metres during thundershowers.
South (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 70 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 22-24°C, maximum 31-33°C; waves 2-4 metres high and over four metres during thundershowers.
South (west coast): Cloudy with thundershowers in 70 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 23-25°C, maximum 29-30°C; waves 2-4 metres high and over four metres during thundershowers.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Cloudy with thundershowers in 70 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 24-25°C, maximum 30-32°C.
