Mahidol University's Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital has organised an event "In Memory of the King" to mark HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej Memorial Day at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok on Tuesday.

Faculty dean Prof Dr Prasit Watanapa, faculty officials and people nearby offered alms in the morning to 39 monks. Then, the participants stood still for 89 seconds and filled the number nine-shaped basin designed by Chuang Moolpinit, the National Artist in visual arts, with marigold flowers.

The event all day features activities and exhibitions to honour the late King Rama IX.

At 1pm, Dr Sumet Tantivejkul, secretary-general of the Chaipattana Foundation, shared anecdotes about the time when he served the late monarch.

The doctor spoke at the packed Centennial Hall in Siriraj Hospital.
