Public Health Ministry instructs hospitals to take care of every patient affected by protests

The Public Health Ministry has sent a letter to every hospital instructing them to treat and take care of all people injured in protests and also asked government officials and medical personnel to be cautious when expressing their political opinions online.

Department of Health Services Support deputy director-general Thongchai Keeratihattayakorn issued the urgent message to every hospital and related health agencies amid the sensitive political situation.

“With the emergence of political movements in many areas and provinces, the Public Health Ministry would like to ask all agencies to prepare to serve the people who may be affected by such events.

In addition, as civil servants, all officials should be careful when expressing their opinions on social media as these may be considered an offence.”

Meanwhile, the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital has urged all parties to use peaceful means to resolve the country’s problems and emphasised the hospital would provide equal care and treatment to all citizens regardless of one’s political views.
