Two Thai returnees among nine who test positive for Covid-19 in state quarantine

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported nine new cases in state quarantine facility over a 24-hour period on Friday.

All of the cases are asymptomatic and include a 56-year-old Thai masseuse who returned from Lebanon on November 1. She went into state quarantine in Chonburi, where she tested positive on November 8.
Two Swiss men aged 74 and 76, and a 52-year-old Thai woman, who had arrived from Switzerland on November 6 and checked into a Bangkok alternative state quarantine hotel, were found infected on November 11.
Five other foreigners to had come from their own countries tested positive in alternative state quarantine hotels in Bangkok. They included a 37-year-old Filipino engineer, who arrived on November 6 after taking a connecting flight from Hong Kong and was found positive on November 11. A 45-year-old Indian woman arrived on November 7 and tested positive on November 11, a 42-year-old Kuwaiti, who arrived on November 10 and tested positive the same day, a 43-year-old French national who arrived on October 30 and tested positive on November 11 and a 66-year-old Briton who arrived on November 6 and tested positive on November 11.


According their health data, this is the second time that the French man and the Briton have been infected by the virus. They had previously tested positive in July and on October 16 respectively.


Meanwhile, four other patients have recovered and been discharged.


The total number of confirmed cases in Thailand has risen to 3,861 (903 in state quarantine), 104 of whom are in hospital and 3,697 have recovered. The death toll remains unchanged at 60.
According to Worldometer, as of 10am, the total number of confirmed cases worldwide had risen to 53.08 million (up by 642,653). Of them, 37.2 million have recovered, while 14.58 million are active cases (95,680 in severe condition) and 1.3 million have died (up by 9,666).
Thailand ranks 149th in the list of most affected countries, while US tops the list with 10.87 million patients, followed by India with 8.72 million, Brazil 5.78 million, France 1.9 million and Russia 1.85 million.
