Police raid suspected gambling den in Pattaya

Twenty-one alleged gamblers were arrested in a joint operation of the Chonburi, Pattaya and Tourism police and related administrative officers.

They raided a condo on Jomtien Second Road in Banglamoong on Saturday where the alleged gambling activity was happening.

The team nabbed 21 alleged gamblers -- 14 Chinese, 5 Thais, one Singaporean, and one Cambodian.

Deputy commander of Chonburi provincial police, Pol Colonel Ekkapob Intawiwat, said that the crackdown was in line with the government's policy of curbing the spread of Covid-19.

Preliminary investigation showed that five of the Chinese gamblers had overstayed in Thailand, while the Cambodian gambler had illegally entered the Kingdom.

The team is collecting evidence to charge them with breaching a gambling law, disease control law and immigration law.
