Thai foreign minister to visit Malaysia for border security talks
Sihasak will visit Malaysia from Sunday (September 6, 2026) to Monday (September 7, 2026) for talks on border security, infrastructure, and economic connectivity.

Jaitai Upakarnitikaset, director-general of the Department of Information and Foreign Ministry spokesperson, said Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow is due to visit Malaysia from September 6 to 7, 2026.
The visit is intended to take forward matters raised when Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul made an official visit to Malaysia from July 9 to 10 and met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The discussions focused particularly on security cooperation and the joint development of border areas.
Sihasak will be accompanied by Thanut Suvarnananda, director of the National Intelligence Agency and chief of the peace dialogue for Thailand’s southern border provinces.
The visit will give Thanut an opportunity to introduce himself and meet representatives of the Malaysian side, with the aim of promoting further cooperation.
While in Malaysia, Sihasak is scheduled to meet the country’s foreign minister to discuss strengthening security along the border while promoting development and economic connectivity.
Particular attention will be given to infrastructure development, road and rail links, and the construction of additional border fencing to prevent and curb unlawful activity.
Jaitai expressed confidence that the cooperation would strengthen security and connectivity between Thailand and Malaysia and lead to economic development in border areas for the benefit of people in both countries.
