Bangkok’s Metropolitan Police Bureau has banned public gatherings and activities that disrupt operations near key venues linked to the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group. The restrictions are in force from October 10 to 20.

The measures are intended to strengthen security in line with international standards as Thailand hosts the meetings, which bring together finance ministers, central bank governors and other senior figures from around the world.

Restrictions cover major meeting venues and 22 hotels

The restrictions apply to three categories of locations and prohibit gatherings or activities that interfere with operations or access to services.

These include the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), the main meeting venue, and One Bangkok Forum, which is being used for a reception. The restrictions also extend to 22 hotels accommodating international delegates and other important guests.

Public urged to cooperate and plan journeys

The Metropolitan Police Bureau has urged residents and visitors to cooperate with security arrangements and help welcome international delegations.

Members of the public have also been advised to plan their journeys in advance and avoid the affected areas unless travel is necessary.

Anyone who notices suspicious activity can contact the police emergency hotline on 191. Those seeking traffic information can call the Traffic Control and Command Centre on 1197.
