Over 2.1 million people across 20 provinces and Bangkok remain affected by floods

Pathum Thani and Bangkok have the most affected households as Thailand’s disaster agency speeds up recovery and prepares records for flood relief

  • As of October 17, flooding in Thailand has impacted 704,699 households, affecting over 2.1 million people across the country.
  • The disaster spans 20 provinces and three districts in Bangkok, with the Central region's Pathum Thani province being the most affected with 216,276 households.
  • The cause of the prolonged flooding is attributed to heavy rain combined with runoff from the North flowing into the Central region.
  • Despite the high number of affected households, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that water levels were falling in all affected areas.

Flooding continues to affect 704,699 households, or 2,148,896 people, across 20 provinces and Bangkok, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) said on October 17, 2026, as officials accelerate recovery work and prepare records for financial relief.

DDPM director-general Nirat Pongsitthaworn said heavy to very heavy rain, combined with runoff from the North joining water in the Central region, had prolonged flooding. DDPM reported falling water levels in all 20 affected provinces and the three affected Bangkok districts.
