THAI POKER SPORTS ASSOCIATION to Push Sport After Punnat's GPI No. 1
Thai poker sports association honors Punnat Punsri as World No. 1 and unveils a nationwide master plan to integrate poker into universities and formal sports.
The event, titled "World’s No. 1 Trophy Ceremony - National Result Celebration," marked a milestone for Thai sports.

Strategic Roadmap for Thai PokerDuring the ceremony, MR.THANA JULPANSAK - President of Thai Poker Sports Association, emphasized that poker is now officially recognized as a sport by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT). He outlined an ambitious roadmap to professionalize the game nationwide
Academic Integration: The TPA plans to collaborate with leading institutions, including Kasetsart University and the Thailand National Sports University, to develop formal poker curricula and courses focusing on skill and strategy.
Digital Hub: A new official association website will launch to provide public information, member registration, and news updates.
National Ranking System: The TPA will establish domestic ranking tournaments to identify local talent, with top-ranked players receiving support to compete on the international stage.
Rising Stars and Industry Support
The celebration also recognized Methavee Thaveekitvatee, a leading female poker athlete who secured the GPI Thailand Female Player of the Year 2025 award following her recent victory at the Asian Poker Tour Jeju Classic 2026.
Last year was a turning point," Punnat stated during his speech. "The recognition from the Sports Authority of Thailand proves that poker is a game of skill and strategy. I will continue to compete globally to reflect the limitless potential of Thai athletes."
