
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) convened an urgent meeting to monitor weather conditions, forecasting increased rainfall and heavy to very heavy rain in several parts of Thailand from August 30 to September 2, 2026.
People in risk areas have been warned to watch for flash floods, rapid run-off and temporary flooding.
The monsoon trough has shifted southwards and is lying across the North and upper Northeast before extending into an active low-pressure cell over the coast of northern Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin.
At the same time, the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand has become fairly strong, resulting in increased rainfall across the country.
