Cell BroadcastFour provinces receive Cell Broadcast flood warnings
DDPM and mobile operators sent real-time warnings for river flooding, flash floods and landslides in Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Chiang Mai and Nong Khai.
Emergency warnings have been sent directly to mobile phones in parts of four Thai provinces as authorities prepare for overflowing rivers, flash floods and landslides.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) worked with mobile network operators AIS, True and National Telecom (NT) to transmit Cell Broadcast alerts in real time to at-risk areas in Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Chiang Mai and Nong Khai.
Residents were advised to move vehicles, valuables and essential documents to higher ground, monitor official updates and provide close assistance to vulnerable people, including older residents and bedridden patients.
Khwae Noi and Nakhon Nayok rivers overflow
In Kanchanaburi, the Khwae Noi River has overflowed near Pak Saeng community in Tha Sao subdistrict of Sai Yok district.
Riverside businesses were instructed to inspect and secure mooring ropes and cables, while residents were told to move belongings and equipment away from the riverbank and onto higher ground.
In Nakhon Nayok, water overflowing from Ban Na Canal and the Nakhon Nayok River has placed several low-lying communities at risk.
The warning covers Phikun Ok, Asa, Thong Lang and Bang O subdistricts in Ban Na district, as well as Sai Mun subdistrict in Ongkharak district.
People living beside canals and rivers in these areas were urged to raise their belongings immediately and continue monitoring water levels.
Heavy rain puts Omkoi at risk
In Chiang Mai, accumulated and continuing rainfall has increased the danger of flash floods, rapid run-off and landslides in Omkoi district, particularly Sop Khong subdistrict and nearby areas.
Residents in low-lying communities and on hillsides were told to move cars, property, valuables and important documents to higher ground.
The alert also warned people to guard against electric shocks and ensure that vulnerable residents received assistance if conditions deteriorated.
Mekong may overflow in six Nong Khai districts
The Mekong River is continuing to rise in Nong Khai and is forecast to overflow into low-lying riverside areas by about 30-50 centimetres from September 1-4, 2026.
The warning covers Sangkhom, Si Chiang Mai, Tha Bo, Mueang Nong Khai, Phon Phisai and Rattanawapi districts.
Residents were advised to move vehicles and other property to higher ground and closely assist older people, bedridden patients and other vulnerable groups.
People affected by flooding or other disasters can request emergency assistance 24 hours a day through the DDPM safety hotline on 1784.
