“Do not bring your belongings down from higher places yet,” Bang Kapi District Office said in its October 6 notice, asking residents to watch the situation closely and follow official announcements.
Weather department reports rain moving towards southern Bangkok
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) said most rain areas were moving towards southern Bangkok, Samut Prakan and the Gulf of Thailand in its 10am radar update.
The TMD’s rainfall assessment covered the following areas:
- Nonthaburi: Light rain
- Samut Prakan: Light to moderate rain
- Bangkok, Pathum Thani and Nakhon Nayok: Light to moderate rain, with isolated heavy rain
The TMD said the overall amount and concentration of rain remained steady as the rain areas moved southwards.
Bangkok’s flood centre reports 14.0mm in Nong Chok
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s flood prevention centre reported the highest rainfall accumulation in Nong Chok at 14.0mm in its 10am update. The accompanying rainfall chart covers 9.30–9.55am on October 6.
Bangkok’s flood prevention centre also reported scattered light rain over Bangkok’s districts east of the Chao Phraya River, known as the Phra Nakhon side. The rain was moving south-west, with conditions expected to remain steady.
Drainage officials and other relevant agencies were closely monitoring and managing water levels in Bangkok’s main canals.
