Heavy rain fell across several parts of Bangkok between 1am and 3am, bringing an average accumulated rainfall of about 50mm, with the highest total of almost 100mm recorded in Sai Mai district, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) reported.
The rain had since moved out of the city, and the BMA said main roads had returned to normal.
However, the administration was stepping up drainage and lowering water levels in main canals to increase capacity for further rainfall.
The BMA said it had ordered close monitoring of another spell of rain expected around noon, with rainfall forecast across about 70% of the city.
Low-lying areas and flood-prone locations remained under close watch.
The administration was coordinating with relevant agencies and monitoring conditions continuously to prepare for further rain and reduce the impact on residents.
Water levels in the main canals, including Saen Saep, Prawet Burirom and Prem Prachakorn, had fallen to near-normal levels on Tuesday (October 6, 2026).
They continued to receive water from smaller canals, while efforts to lower water levels in other canals were continuing and being stepped up.
High water levels also required monitoring for water overtopping flood barriers, particularly along Khlong Hok Wa Sai Lang near the Pathum Thani border in Khlong Sam Wa, Nong Chok and Sai Mai districts.
The Thai Meteorological Department forecast thundershowers across 70% of Bangkok and surrounding provinces, with maximum temperatures of 33–35°C and minimum temperatures of 24–25°C.
The BMA’s update on main-road flooding, based on conditions as of 6.30am on October 6, listed the following locations for residents to check before travelling.

Slight flooding of 5–10cm, roads passable
