Protesters opposing the International Monetary Fund (IMF) faced police at Bangkok’s Rama IV intersection at 8am on October 15, 2026, while trying to reach the venue of the annual IMF–World Bank meetings.
Members of the civil society network were requesting access to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center to submit demands to IMF executives attending the meetings.
Police closed roads leading towards the convention centre from the Rama IV and Asok intersections, causing long traffic queues.
Police began talks with protesters at 8.30am, asking the group to move back from Rama IV. The negotiations helped ease traffic to some extent.
Whether the protesters would be able to reach the meeting venue remained unclear.
