Tourist Police step up support for Chinese and international visitors

Tourist Police expand assistance for Chinese and international visitors, promoting the 1155 hotline and app for round-the-clock help in eight languages.

Thailand’s Tourist Police Bureau is strengthening assistance for Chinese and international visitors, with greater emphasis on providing information, travel support and coordination when tourists need help.

Pol Lt Gen Pongsayam Meekanthong, Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, said on Thursday (October 22) that the bureau was continuing to improve its services so visitors could contact officers conveniently and receive timely assistance suited to their circumstances.

The initiative follows government and Ministry of Tourism and Sports policies placing greater importance on tourist safety and confidence in Thailand as a travel destination.

It also supports the policy of Pol Gen Samran Nuanma, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, to strengthen police services while improving safety and assistance for both the public and tourists.

Pongsayam said the Tourist Police were prepared to work with other agencies under the Royal Thai Police, the Immigration Bureau and relevant authorities according to their respective responsibilities.

The cooperation is intended to provide comprehensive support ranging from information and travel assistance to coordination when visitors encounter problems or emergencies during their journeys.

1155 hotline available around the clock

The Tourist Police Bureau is also encouraging Chinese and other foreign visitors to familiarise themselves with its assistance channels.

Tourists can call the Tourist Police Hotline 1155 around the clock, with services available in eight languages to reduce communication barriers for international visitors.

The hotline currently supports English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, French, German and Hindi.

Visitors can also report incidents or request assistance through the Thailand Tourist Police application.

The bureau advised tourists to remember the 1155 number and, when requesting assistance, provide clear information about their location and the circumstances of the incident to help officers coordinate an appropriate response.

The Tourist Police Bureau said it would continue working with relevant agencies to provide Chinese and international visitors with information and assistance when needed, while supporting efforts to maintain safety and confidence in Thailand’s tourism sector.
