The government is moving forward with a proposed year-end 2026 economic stimulus measure that would expand the Thai Tiew Thai Plus 2026 scheme to 1 million entitlements, with each person able to claim up to five.
The THB3.5 billion proposal would be funded through borrowing under an emergency decree.
The state would subsidise 50% of accommodation costs, with its contribution capped at THB3,000 per entitlement, and provide digital food and travel vouchers.
The scheme would cover all 77 provinces without distinguishing between major and secondary cities.
Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul confirmed that the system supporting the Paotang app was 100% ready.
The proposal is due to be submitted to the Cabinet for formal approval in September, before public registration opens on Thursday (October 1, 2026).
Travel under the scheme is due to begin in December.
Government advances THB3.5 billion plan to double entitlements
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Ministry of Finance have jointly backed a proposal to increase entitlements under the Thai Tiew Thai Plus 2026 economic and tourism stimulus scheme from the originally planned 500,000 to 1 million in one round.
The proposed THB3.5 billion budget, double the original THB1.75 billion, would come from borrowing under an emergency decree.
The measure is intended to encourage domestic travel and distribute income widely at the grassroots level.
Each person would be able to claim up to five entitlements.
Proposed subsidies under Thai Tiew Thai Plus 2026
- 50% accommodation subsidy: The state would cover half of accommodation costs, with its contribution capped at THB3,000 per entitlement.
- Digital food and travel voucher: Each entitlement would include a digital food and travel voucher worth up to THB500.
- Coverage across all 77 provinces: The scheme would apply nationwide without distinguishing between major and secondary cities.
- Broader range of grassroots businesses: The scheme would cover hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, shops selling One Tambon One Product (OTOP) goods, spas and wellness massage services, one-day tour packages, car hire, public transport and boat hire. The measure is intended to channel spending directly to small operators and communities.

Surasak confirmed that the back-end system managed by Krungthai Bank was fully ready, convenient, secure and easy to use.
- Details of the scheme’s criteria and conditions are due to be submitted to the Cabinet for formal approval in September 2026.
