Liverpool will change their main shirt sponsor for the first time since 2010 after agreeing a five-year partnership with Turkish Airlines, which takes effect on June 1, 2027.
The agreement, announced on Tuesday (September 8), is worth more than £300 million (US$405.78 million), according to media reports. The financial terms have not been officially confirmed.
That reported valuation would put the partnership among the Premier League’s most lucrative sponsorship deals. The income is likely to match Manchester United’s shirt agreement with Qualcomm, signed in August 2024.
Turkish Airlines will replace Standard Chartered after the bank’s 17 years as Liverpool’s leading shirt sponsor. Standard Chartered has held the role since 2010.
The bank will continue as a global partner, the club said, while Turkish Airlines takes the leading position in Liverpool’s branding.
Liverpool’s chief commercial officer Ben Latty linked the new partnership to the club’s Champions League final comeback victory in Istanbul in 2005.
“The front of the Liverpool shirt holds a special place in the history of our club,” Latty said.
“Turkish Airlines is a globally recognised organisation with an extensive international network and we look forward to beginning our partnership and building a strong relationship together, with already strong foundations built from those special memories back in 2005,” he added.
The agreement expands Turkish Airlines’ football sponsorship portfolio. The airline is already an official partner of the Champions League and the main sponsor of Turkey’s national team.
