An infrastructure proposal worth more than VND2.7 trillion (US$105 million) has won Da Nang’s approval, allowing Thailand’s WHA Group to proceed with plans for a 400-hectare industrial park.
Eco-industrial and smart industrial parks are the intended focus of WHA’s expansion in Vietnam.
The group’s industrial property investment plans for the country amount to at least US$1 billion over the next five years.
The investor approved by Da Nang is WHA Industrial Development International (SG) Pte. Ltd.
The WHA Da Nang Industrial Park is planned for Thang Binh and Dong Duong communes.
Da Nang expects development of the WHA park to extend from 2027 to 2034.
An opening phase of 200 hectares is planned from the final quarter of 2027 through the final quarter of 2030, with a second phase expected to begin in 2031.
The investment figure for six industrial parks, Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Da Nang Information Technology Park, is US$3.55 billion.
Da Nang’s overall investment totals US$4.35 billion, covering more than 1,000 projects.
Da Nang has started construction of the VND6.2 trillion Hoa Ninh Industrial Park.
Another industrial park, proposed by Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) for Dien Ban Bac Ward with total investment of US$138.15 million, received city approval earlier this year.
Investment in four functional areas of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone (FTZ) exceeds VND15 trillion, the Da Nang Specific Economic Zones Authority (DSEZA) reported.
The authority has attracted three investors for those areas.
Investment licences for FTZ3 and FTZ4, the third and fourth functional areas of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, have been issued to Phuong Trang Group and Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company.
FTZ2, the second functional area of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, is a 75-hectare development known as EAGLE FTZ, with an investment of around VND1.6 trillion.
Local industrial park developer Sai Gon-Da Nang Investment Corporation (SDN) reported that it had started construction of the project.
