Amway vitamin segment drives income

Amway (Thailand), a leading multilevel marketing company, has high hopes of achieving its targets for this year thanks mainly to heavy promotion of its multivitamin-supplement segment.

General manager Kittawat Ritteerawee said yesterday that since early this year the company had spent more than Bt100 million on promotions to build brand awareness for its highlighted multivitamin supplement, Nutrilite Double X.

The promotion was conducted through various channels including television, radio, and print and digital media, as well as support for related events to educate potential customers about nutrition supplements. For example, Amway's Nutri-lite is a major sponsor of the fifth Thailand Congress of Nutrition conference, a three-day event being held by the Nutrition Association of Thailand under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn until tomorrow.

This conference aims to encourage Thais at every level to enjoy life through the quality and security |of food as well as adequate daily nutrition.

"Given these activities, we strongly believe that Amway (Thailand) will earn Bt5.4 billion in income from the nutritional-supplement segment, up from Bt5.1 billion last year," Kittawat said.

Additionally, from January to August, Nutrilite Double X witnessed a 42-per-cent surge in revenue year on year thanks mainly to its heavy promotion and the rise of health-consciousness among Thais. By the end of the year, the company targets Bt700 million in income from this product line.

As a result, the company should see a slight increase in revenue from nutrition products, which currently account for 35 per cent of total income, while the cosmetics segment, with about 20 per cent, will see a slight drop on declining demand. The rest is from household and personal-care products.

Kittawat said that in the first eight months, the company enjoyed a |revenue increase of almost 10 per cent year on year, so it strongly believed that it would earn more than Bt15 billion, up from Bt13.75 billion last year.
