Let's demonstrate

Thai artist Rirkrit Tiravanija and American musician Arto Lindsay will bring art to the streets of Los Angeles on October 2 in the Trespass Parade, which is put on by LA art-activists West of Rome.

Rirkrit designed pop-art T-shirts with call-to-action slogans for political or social concerns: "Less Oil More Courage", "The Days of This Society are Numbered", "Free China from Tibet" and an old favourite from Thailand, "No Country for Old Prime Minister".

Many art luminaries, including Lindsay, John Baldessari, Vaginal Davis, Barbara Kruger, Nancy Rubins and Jeffrey Vallance, were asked to produce T-shirts, which will be worn in the parade.

Running in the woods

Thai fashion's hot stylist-photographer duo Sirivong Sukasemsin and Thananon Thanakornkarn recently headed out to the jungles of Nakhon Ratchasima to shoot the advertising campaign for the autumn-winter collection of Palette, the growing sister label of It's Happened to be a Closet.

Sirivong and Thananon aimed to capture the essence of a fast-growing world with a chase scene in a fantastical landscape.

"Our models ran all the time and there's hardly a motionless shot, Sirivong says. "It was a lot of fun and I feel we've grabbed a great opportunity to do something new."

Sirivong said he enjoyed the styling challenge. "What's most striking in Palette's collection is the vivid colours so I based the styling on pairing contrasting colours or using a single colour, with contrasting detail as the highlight."

Palette's outfits include linen tunics with matching trousers, sporty trousers with circle patchwork, stretchy rompers, long, striped tunic dresses and T-shirts with decorative mini-cat faces.

Check out the collection at Palette boutiques in Siam Centre, Paragon, Emporium, The Mall Bang Kapi and at Central in Pinklao and Lat Phrao.
