Amway anticipates sales record

Despite serious concerns over the flooding crisis and the sluggish global economy, Amway (Thailand) is confident of setting a new company sales record next year thanks to its growing health-products business.

Preecha Prakobkit, managing director of the company, expects sales to hit Bt18 billion this year and to go on to a record high the following year.
In the first eight months of this year, the company’s sales grew by 7-8 per cent to Bt14.4 billion.
“The government’s measures to stimulate domestic growth and raise health consciousness among Thais will help the company grow,” Preecha said.
However, the firm is concerned about a possible short-term decline in purchasing power among some customers due to the impact of the flooding. To ensure growth, the firm will continue to launch new products aimed at health- and beauty-conscious customers.
It will also continue to invest huge amounts each year in support of innovation and research and development (R&D), Preecha said, with the goal of producing new products and gaining competitiveness against its rivals.
Looking ahead, he said the company plans to take advantage of zero tariffs under the Asean Economic Community by 2015 by tightening R&D cooperation with its Amway partner companies in the region.
Amway’s Nutrilite vitamin and Artistry cosmetics account for more than 60 per cent of the company’s sales.
Preecha was confident sales of both healthcare and beauty products would increase steadily in the coming years. Amway is currently ranked as the top direct-sales brand in the Thai market.
