RATCH benefits from business diversification

Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Plc announced the success in meeting goals in terms of profitability and capacity.

While announcing the third-quarter net profit of Bt1.23 billion, the company expects its new 830 megawatt power plant to commence operations by the end of this year, which will boost the company's total installed capacity to 5,180 megawatts.
CEO Noppol Milinthanggoon said that this success reflects the effectiveness of business strategies.
He said that the company has diversified into renewable energy and related businesses, while the area of operations has been extended overseas, ranging from greenfield or brownfield to a merger and acquisition.
"This year, the proportion of domestic and international investment can be obviously observed.  Overseas investment has been significantly expanded to 30 per cent of company's total portfolio.  Meanwhile, fuel sources are more diversified.  Although natural gas remains our major source of fuel, a share of coal, hydro, solar, wind and biomass has been increasing accordingly.  This reflects an efficiency in diversifying its portfolio with the best effort to minimise risks arising from fuel sources. It also responds the government's policy in reducing the dependency on fossil fuel and in promoting renewable energy," he said.
