Low demand for first cars
Few have applied for tax refund under the first car scheme in wake of severe flooding.
As of the end of Oct, about 1,000 car buyers asked the Excise Department for tax refund which each can get up to Bt100,000, said today Deputy Finance Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom.
Launched late September shortly before floods hit Bangkok, the scheme is one of populist projects promised during election by Pheu Thai Party.
The Finance Ministry originally expected this scheme - to end in 2012 - to boost car sales by 100,000 units.
