This notebook will convince you

If you're thinking of shedding the desktop, the HP Pavilion dv7 is the game-changer

The HP Pavilion dv7-6b06tx is the ultimate entertainment notebook computer for playing graphics-intensive games and watching high-definition movies.
It comes with a powerful processor, a very good graphics adapter and large and bright Full-HD screen.
The dv7 is powered by an Intel Core i7-2760QM running at 2.4GHz and the notebook comes with a lot of active memory (RAM) – eight gigabytes of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM, in fact. You can upgrade that to 16GB.
The graphics horsepower is impressive, performance is powered by an AMD Radeon HD 6770M, which has 2GB GDDR5 of dedicated memory for just this purpose.
The notebook uses a 17.3-inch Full-HD anti-glare LED-backlit display with 1920x1080-pixel resolution, which is great for watching HD movies.
The notebook also has two hard drives, each with 1GB of storage, so it has plenty of room for multimedia files.
Best of all, it has a combo Blu-ray and DVD-write drive that allows you to write DVDs and watch Blu-ray movies.
Another impressive feature is the Beats Audio system with an HP triple-bass reflex subwoofer. It’s terrific for playing music and games and watching movies.
The dv7 is sturdy, with a chassis made of tough aluminium alloy.
Another thing I like is that the notebook has full-size keyboard with an integrated numeric keyboard, just like the keyboard of a desktop computer. Typing is much more convenient this way.
And the touchpad supports multi-touch gestures for control certain applications and Web browsers.
There’s an integrated HD webcam and digital microphone for video chatting.
In my test I found that the dv7 smoothly played graphics-intensive games that demand heavy computer resources. The racing simulation game “Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed” just flew along.
Blu-ray movies played crisply and beautifully during the test. The dv7 has an HDMI port so I could playBlu-ray movies on the notebook and on a LCD TV at the same time.
The dv7 runs on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Measured with Windows 7’s internal benchmark tool, it scores impressively.
On a scale of one to 7.9, the dv7 got 7.5 points for the processor’s calculations per second and an impressive 7.6 for memory operations per second.
The notebook got 6.6 for both desktop performance for Windows Aero and for 3D business and gaming graphics performance.
It scored 5.9 points for the disk data-transfer rate.
The HP Pavilion dv7-6b06tx is a notebook computer for anyone wants to replace their desktop PC with a large-screen computer that performs well, and one that can be toted around in the house easily.
It’s 41.6x27.5x3.6 centimetres and weighs just over three kilograms. The cost in shops is Bt63,990, including VAT.
