We have '2' for you

We have '2' for you

The English-language 2 magazine is devoting its October-November issue to the Thai contemporary art scene.

At bookstands since last week, new editor Lynn Visudharomm has revamped the former men’s magazine to a unisex lifestyle bimonthly focusing on arts.
The latest cover pairs internationally acclaimed Thai artist Rirkrit Tiravanija with Petch Bencharongkul, daughter of big-name collector Boonchai.
Features include an interview with Rirkrit at his Chiang Mai home-studio plus in-depth looks at the key movers behind the contemporary art scene in the last decade, among them Gridthiya Gaweewong, Klaomard Yipintsoi, Paravi Wongchirachai and Apinan Poshyanand.
Artists Araya rasdjarmrearnsook, Pinnaree Sanpitak and Apichatpong Weerasethakul are also featured.
It’s priced at Bt120, but you can get one for free from Sunday Leisure, which has five copies to give away. E-mail [email protected] and tell us who is on the cover of this month’s issue.

Curios about jewellery
Elle magazine editor Kullawit Laosuksri has launched his own jewellery brand Curios.
Born and raised in the diamond-jewellery business, Kullawit has a passion for precious stones. He’s teamed up with jewellery designer Pitchya Srirapong to creates an autumn-winter collection that’s inspired by African art.
Called “Afrique”, the hand-made jewellery is available at Club 21 Accessories in the Erawan shopping complex.

Christo to wrap a river
Christo, the artist famous for wrapping landmarks around the world, has revealed his next project: suspending silvery fabric over the Arkansas River in the western US.
“Over the River” will see eight sections of the river between Salida and Carson City in Colorado covered with 10 kilometres of billowing aluminised panels that will change shade over the course of each day.
Seen from above, the panels – to be hung two to eight metres above the river – “will resemble waves at sea,” the Bulgarian-born artist says.
“Over the River” will be financed entirely by Christo, who is selling preparatory drawings to the public. It has already cost him $10 million and the final price tag could be five times that amount.
