Thailand ready for World Economic Forum on East Asia 2012

Thailand is ready to host the World Economic Forum on East Asia 2012 during May 30-June 1.

Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong said after the meeting between Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and key Thai companies on Monday that a Thai Economic Forum would be hosted, so that the Thai private sector can brainstorm on Thailand's investment and economic future.
He noted that the WEF on East Asia 2012 will focus on all business categories - tourism, telecommunications, health and beauty and energy.
The government is hopeful that the convention will help restore investor confidence in Thailand after the disastrous floods.
At the meeting with representatives of 42 companies, Yingluck also wooed more Thai companies to apply for WEF membership. Among some 1,000 corporate members are 8 Thai companies - Bangkok Bank, Thai Airways International, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, PTT, Thai Beverage, Central Pattana, Krung Thai Bank and Ch Karnchang.
Representatives of Toshiba Thailand, Banpu and Bangchak Petroleum also expressed their interest in applying for the membership.
Forum Members are companies that are driving the world economy forward. The typical member company is a global enterprise with more than US$ 5 billion in turnover, although this varies by industry and region.
