Racial discrimination at leading bank
Born in Thailand (20 years old) with a Thai mother, Thai identity and a Thai passport, I wanted to open a bank account at Bangkok Bank.
As I am studying, it is more convenient for me if my parents transfer money to my bank account, as the distances are too far to come home regularly and I don’t want to have a large amount in cash. The bank refused because my father is a foreigner (he has a bank account)! Can Bangkok Bank or someone else explain the motives behind this refusal, as a bank next to Bangkok Bank allowed me to open a bank account without any problem.
