World champions at April fooling

World champions at April fooling

In a world full of April Fool's jokes, South Korean celebrities shone this year, using (or abusing) the social networks as best they could.

Actor Wonbin announced his forthcoming wedding to a fashion model: “Wonbin will marry on April 31st.” His fans were exciteda until they realised there is no such date. (And besides, what model would marry a mug like him?)
More fans were tricked when Nichkhun Horvejkul – the Thai in the South Korean boy band 2PM – tweeted that his mum had told him her father was an Englishman, “so that makes me a quarter British! That explains why I only turn red when I tan!”
Well, handsome Nichkhun does have a certain European look and is quite fluent in English, so few people paid attention to the date of the tweet, April 1, until he admitted soon after that it was just a gag.
For his Thai fans, Nichkhun announced that Udom “Nose” Taepanich had asked him to be a guest in his next stand-up comedy show. “Now I’m waiting to take a special Thai-language course with Phi Nose!”
Soon another tweet: “Turned out my Thai is not good enough, Phi Nose told me”. Yes, it was more April foolery, but what if Nose has seen the tweet and thought it was a great idea?
An even better jokester was Leeteuk of the band Super Junior, who knows that the truth is hard to believe. He shared his phone number on Twitter, insisting, “It’s 100 per cent real, so contact me through this number, please.” Most people smirked. Many people did not.
Leeteuk soon tweeted that his phone battery was dead because so many people had texted him. Then his band-mate Kim Heechul uploaded a photo. “This is Leeteuk’s phone. He really revealed his phone number today. His phone has died!”
Heechul confirmed it was a genuine stunt, a reverse April Fool’s joke. “He really is amazing. This is what I call a real April Fools’ Day event. There’s no way I can beat this!”
