Earlier Pattaya Open expects more stars

Earlier Pattaya Open expects more stars

Organisers will serve up the PTT Pattaya Open a week earlier next year, from January 27 to February 3, in order to accommodate Fed Cup matches.

“The change of date will be beneficial in attracting a strong player field for Pattaya, as the tournament follows on directly from the Australian Open,” said tournament director Geoffrey Rowe. “In previous years many players have had to give Pattaya a miss due to Fed Cup commitments the weekend prior to the PTT Pattaya Open. The change of date will also give an added bonus to tourism as players will stay on in Pattaya for a few extra days holiday as they won’t need to rush off to compete in another tournament.”
The Pattaya Open, with the help of Pattaya City, the Sports Authority of Thailand, Chon Buri Province, Dusit Thani, Toyota, Jetstar, Peak and Chang Drinking Water, will be back at Pattaya’s Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya for the 22nd time in 2013, making it one of the longest running events on the WTA calendar.
