No tapioca to be released from stockpiles, says govt

The Foreign Trade Department late last week reaffirmed that the government would not release tapioca from its stockpiles for the time being to ensure a high cassava price during the pledging project for the commodity.

Department director-general Manus Soiploy said the price of cassava should increase steadily as the government would retain its stockpiles and purchase tapioca products from businesses.
So far, 6.8 million tonnes of fresh cassava have been entered in the government’s pledging project. The government plans to purchase 1 million tonnes of tapioca chips and 300,000 tonnes of tapi
oca starch from traders to promote the cassava price during harvest season.

KBank loans to help SMEs with wage hike
Kasikornbank has launched special low-interest loans to help soften the burden on small and medium-sized enterprises from the recent increase in the daily minimum wage to Bt300 in some provinces.
The bank will offer SMEs overdraft loans for working capital, as well as long-term loans. They will be granted credit lines of up to 95 per cent of collateral value. Businesses that employ more than 10 workers will get a special rate. – The Nation
