Kingdom's HP unit restructuring, setting up demo

Hewlett-Packard (Thailand) will restructure to focus on the consumer and corporate businesses, while joining with SIS Distribution (Thailand) to set up a demo centre with an HP 3PAR storage system to support the enterprise market.

“I think the new organisation will be officially launched in July and will help our partners to take care of our customers in terms of one team as well as simplified products and services,” managing director Dhanawat Suthumpun said yesterday.
HP headquarters had originally said it would restructure its organisation last month.
For the consumer or volume business, the firm has set up the Printing and Personal System, which gathers personnel from the personal-system and imaging-and-printing groups.
For the corporate market, the firm will combine server, storage, networking and technology services into the enterprise group to simplify its operations and improve performance and productivity.
It has outlined plans for a multi-year productivity initiative designed to streamline business processes, advance innovation and deliver better results for customers, employees and shareholders. The restructuring is expected to generate annualised savings in the range of US$3 billion to $3.5 billion (Bt95 billion to Bt110 billion) by fiscal 2014, which will mainly be reinvested back into the company. Enabling investments in people, processes and technology will allow HP to accomplish the restructuring effort and generate the savings.
To promote corporate sales, the new demo centre will provide “proof of concept” to customers before they make the decision to adopt new technology and solutions to support their business. Somchai Sittichaisrichart, managing director of SIS Distribution (Thailand), said the demo centre was part of a new direction for the firm, which included the formation of the Value-Added Commercial Business Unit.
The demo centre will showcase server and storage solutions, security solutions, and surveillance and security solutions.
The new business unit is expected to contribute more than Bt1 billion to revenue and reach more than 100 enterprise customers this year, while total revenue is projected to grow 5-10 per cent from Bt22.7 billion last year.
