Ronaldo hooked on Thailand after Andaman fishing trips
Portugal captain Christiano Ronaldo described the Andaman Sea as the most beautiful place he had ever visited and said he would love to come back.
The footballer was interviewed on Channel 3’s morning news programme yesterday on his final day in the Kingdom. The former Manchester United star and his Russian girlfriend, model Irina Shayk, have spent most of the past two weeks holidaying in Phan Nga province, where he went out on a fishing expedition and also visited Koh Phi Phi and the “James Bond island”.
“For me it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. It’s wonderful. We went to Phi Phi Island, the James Bond Island where the movie [‘The Man With the Golden Gun’] was shot. The water was warm. I enjoyed it a lot. Of course I want to come back here,’’ said the 27-year-old, who posted a picture of himself fishing on his Facebook page.
“I’m an angler. I saw many types of fish. I went out for four days. I fished with a fishing rod and could feel their bite on the hook,” Ronaldo said, clapping his hand enthusiastically, adding that he took back his catch to eat for lunch and dinner.
Before he arrived in Bangkok on Monday to sign a deal with Toyota, Ronaldo and Shayk visited a rubber plantation and posted a picture on their Twitter account.
“I took a helicopter and all the people were there. So I saw them and I asked them to take the pictures because I think the panorama of the picture is amazing. I enjoyed a lot. It’s like a family,’’ he added.
After appearing in the TV programme, Ronaldo shot a commercial for the Toyota Hilux Vigo Champ in the afternoon before leaving Thailand by private jet.
