McKey's tree planting aims for sustainable greener tomorrow

McKey Food Services (Thailand) Ltd in collaboration with the country's top companies, organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) tree planting activity to plant 800 trees in honour of HM Queen Sirikit's 80th birthday on August 26, 2012 at Si Nakh

Along with high quality products and services, CSR is also one of McKey’s key strategic global platform and initiatives. Under the ‘McKey – A Greener Tomorrow’ project, many environmental activities are urged to green the earth and conserve the nature for its sustainable richness.

"Sustainability and social responsibility are the hearts of our global CSR framework. We have initiated the clean technology schemes to reduce our water, electricity, power consumption, natural resources used and carbon content put out to the air in order to help make the world a sustainable greener place. Also, the synergy to do good for the community is important. As McKey and many of our employees lives in Samutprakarn, this tree planting activity gives an opportunity to our people to give back not only to the environment, but also to the community," said Sharin Baba, managing director.

Samut Prakan Governor Wannida Boonprakong joined the activity along with top management from various leading companies, which comprise Saichon Submakudom, corporate affairs director of McThai Co Ltd; Paul Potter, managing director of Kerry Ingredients (Thailand) Ltd; Asanee Mallamphut, managing director of Morakot Industries Plc; Narongkorn Natesarn, Food Segment sales manager of Praxair (Thailand) Ltd; and Sarote Ruangchote, Sales and Section manager of Thai Containers Group Co Ltd.

The tree planting exercise was participated by more than 300 participants consisting of employees along with their family members from McKey, their key customers and partners. "I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our supply chain partners, our customers and everyone who gathered here today to support us. It gives us energy and motivation to continue doing more for the community and Thailand." Sharin Baba said.
