Tong and Mario's spooky scheme

Tong and Mario's spooky scheme

You heard it first on Twitter if you are a follower of Banjong "Tong" Pisanthanakun, who directed "Guan Muen Ho" ("Hello Stranger") and the comedy segments of the "Si Phrang" and "Ha Phrang" horror films.

GTH executive Wisute Poolvoralaks revealed that Tong will shoot the studio’s first movie since its seventh-anniversary picture “Seven Something”.
The working title is “Phi Mak Phrakanong”, a clue that we’ll be revisiting the classic ghost story about Mae Nak Phrakanong, whose lead male character is named Mak. Tong on Wednesday tweeted that Mario Maurer will play Mak – quite a teaser!
And he followed that up with a tweet in English: “My new film is a comedy-horror starring Mario Maurer @ohohmario .The film will be released in March 2013.”
Many fans wondered why Mario gets to play Phi Mak when he doesn’t look very Thai. “You guys can find out next year,” Tong replied.

Nantika tunes in
ML Nantika Worarawan, vice president for corporate communications and “the face of” Bangkok Airways, once dreamed of working in TV. Now she is – for In Channel, the latest business venture of her boss Prasart Prasartong-Osoth.
“I used to want to be a news anchor when I was in New York, after visiting a news studio, but I never came across any chance to work in the field,” Nantika tells Lips magazine.
Now that she has the chance, albeit behind the scenes, Nantika thinks she has the abilities. Her job at Bangkok Airways involves meeting people and monitoring the news media closely – she always makes sure she’s up to date on what’s happening – that she’s “in”.
“Dr Prasart was thinking about running an English-language channel and I looked around, but there was really no such thing, just channels with the news in English. I thought we could fill the gap with a channel covering lifestyle and entertainment as well.”
What she wants to achieve is give In Channel a unique position and make it the pride of Thailand – and to have her own English-language channel. Judge it yourself. Tune into to True 90 on September 21.
