Thai kids could reap untold benefits from reading

Thai kids could reap untold benefits from reading

"The more you read, the more things you'll know. The more you learn, the more places you will go." - Dr Seuss

Reportedly, Thai children read only two to five books per year, while children in Singapore and Vietnam read 50 to 60 books annually. Reading takes effort, and one must be willing to make an effort.
Comprehension involves only the eyes and the brain, reading in thought groups rather than word by word, in phrases of three to five words conceptualised as one big meaning-rich clump.
In this information age, digital reading is a basic need and fundamental survival skill, requiring dot-com commitment.
Reading, and developing a love for reading, begins at home. Learning how to read more and read better must first be encouraged by parents, helping to enable their beloved offspring to become successful, fluent readers. Creative reading stretches the imagination and helps children who are struggling to find themselves make sense of their own lives. Books are a free pass to anywhere and everywhere, the start of a curious, lifelong adventure seeking pleasure and treasure, while developing a passionate habit of living and loving to read and reread classics.
Today’s young, voracious readers will become tomorrow’s ambitious leaders.
