Thaksin has no love for English-language press

Thaksin has no love for English-language press

Ref: "Thaksin & Co too busy looting the ship", Letters, yesterday.

Congratulations to The Nation for serving its readership so well with its honest, balanced, courageous assessment of the current political situation. This is five-star reporting without fear or favour – indeed, The Nation is the jewel in the crown of the Thai press!
And Thaksin knows this very well, which is what lies behind his pathetic whining in the Forbes magazine interview. And his lackeys know it too, however hard they try to sound sensible when supporting his indefensible utterances, actions and policies, shooting themselves in the foot so fast they don’t even have time to reload!
What amazes me is that Thaksin berates that other English-language Thai paper as equally anti-himself, while it’s almost in his pocket in comparison to The Nation.
Since the beginning of 2012 I have had 45 letters published in The Nation out of some 55 I submitted, while I have had only nine accepted by that other paper out of almost the same number, over 50. And every single letter I sent them was tailored specifically to their particular limits on length and strength, if you get what I mean.
I think I’m well enough known and respected to be able to say this too. Because it’s close – there are precious few media outlets in Thailand uninfluenced by Thaksin’s unhallowed money and pressure.
Do you remember when Thaksin had the AMLO investigate The Nation? Need any more reason to dismiss his present idiotic outburst? Or had you forgotten?
